    The Sony PS3 - 3D Display - what's it all about????

On the whole true gamers hate to share a screen, they much prefer to have their action on a full screen display - but soon they won't have to share a screen at all. Sony is set to launch a 24inch 3D display that will offer a slightly different 1080p perspective to each lens of your active 3D shutter glasses which will provide you with 3D visuals from your PS3 games - but it will also do a very smart modern day equivalent of the old 2 player split gaming screen. Thanks to those very same active shutter glasses technology - each gamers *half* is actually a full screen 2D 1080p picture that will be visible only to them. So, how does this technology work?? Active-shutter 3D glasses flick each lens on and off (*on* - clear and *off* - black) alternately 60 times a second. The TV alternates two 2D views at the same time, so each eye actually sees a different perspective and tricks your brain into thinking it's viewing 3D. In split-screen mode the PS3 TV turns both of one gamers lenses *on* while the other glasses are *off*, giving each player a different full screen picture.
